Working Meeting Minutes

Post Mortems
- Ice Cream Social -
It was a success, a lovely day. Thank you to all the
volunteers. A couple of the lab coats have some stains. We
spent $261.92. Peter and Matt recommend not going to Sam's
or Costco - just go to Cub. Recommend dry ice for next year.
Great job advertising at CVG. We had about 60 people there.
More than last year but less than the year with the
postcards. New faces there. More games next year - three
legged race / egg toss. Two o'clock time is good. Get a
bouncy castle.
Club Updates
- Geek Physique - (7
people on the google group) Still meeting regularly. Weekly
walks and Aug/Sept walks posted. Reminder to utilize google
group for announcements.
- Book / Movie - (32
people on the google group list) Ten people at last meeting.
Stand By Me. Next is Hitchhikers and selection meeting.
Third week of September.
- Geeks Read - (32
people on that google group) 8 people at last meeting. Met
at Columbia Ground coffee shop. Haven't chosen location for
next meeting yet. Two meetings next year at CONvergence?
- Crafty Geek - (42
people on the google group) Two new people from CVG panel.
Three there on the 20th. Next meeting is the 17th of Sept.
- MISFITS of Gaming -
(8 people on the google group) Six people at the first
meeting. Eight on the list. Possible Game Day at the Source?

Take off website.

Budget Report
- Issue with Qwest bill -
consider switching companies. Our check for website hasn't
been cashed either. Art show - $1314. Silent auction - 65
dollars. 2046 deposit on July 12th - Silent Auction. Current
balance - $38,174.18. Budget allocation - Thomas suggested
more money for picnic, ice cream social, and other events.
Pizza party for scavenger hunt and/or other events. Film
crew for scavenger hunt, get room early (downstairs.) More
money at programs like Happy Holidays and In the Schools.
Get rid of money for individual clubs but have club slush
fund.
Program Updates
- GOT Edutainment-
Dave B. and Erica Z. - co-heads?
Possible events: Science Museum, State Fair, Burlesque Show,
water slides, art museum, corn maze, haunted house, apple
orchard. Have a poll on the website? State fair same day as
geek physique walk. August 30th.
- In the Schools - We
got a thank you card with pictures. Scan card and put on
website.
- Writing Contest -
Jodie has 70 dollars to spend. Last thing is to send a
letter with gift certificate and a WC book to the school,
saying "You have a wonderful student."
Events Updates
- Fall Event (Cinema
Rex Night, Spy Night, etc.)
- Think about renting out
the Mounds Theatre. If we do Rex route, we need a suggestion
of 10 movies or so and they pick the best three. Think about
ideas for movies - Matt will talk to the Rex Boys - Budget
was $600.00. We can increase budget. Talk to Rex and Mounds
Theatre.
- Think about forming a
Prom Committee by November 1st. Amada and Emily
co-heads. Creature Feature theme.
- Consider moving officer
retreat to fall / winter as opposed to closer to
CONvergence.
- Create a Scavenger Hunt
Committee.
Other
- Inventory List and
Checkout System - table it. Dave is working on template for
it.
- Microwave and Mini-Fridge
(any other capital expenditures needed?) we have a new
microwave.
- Photography Club
Suggestion - Roger suggested it. Must be a misfits member to
suggest a club. We would probably approve it. Need
guidelines for starting club.
- Board / Officer Meeting
Date - tabled? not sure!
- Dave has a list of
conventions in the area - room party presence.
- CD/DVDs in office -
picture archives
- Club heads need to
volunteer at room party as well.
